The fourth module focuses on instruction in yoga therapy techniques that address the five elements.

Courses may also include components of clinical massage and Pilates. Yoga therapy is often employed to help patients deal with stress, pain, depression, anxiety, fear, or other mental health issues. Training is offered by licensed professionals and supervised at a professional therapeutic environment. Many of the techniques used in the training can be applied on the spot to provide immediate relief for patients. All yoga therapy training includes instruction in diagnosis and basic assessment of mental health disorders.

Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training

The knowledge of how to identify and document symptoms is fundamental. Therapists are trained to ask open-ended questions that allow them to gain a comprehensive understanding of a patient’s situation. These questions also help the therapist evaluate recent changes in the patient’s lifestyle and habits, as well as recent environments in the patient’s life. As a part of continuing education, most instructors provide continuing education credits to current patients to ensure they are aware of current health topics.

The first module introduces students to yoga therapy and the theory behind it. This module focuses on body awareness, breathing control, energy flow, and relaxation. An individual course in this module may last from two to four weeks, depending on the program, the school, the instructor, and the student’s progress. One week of coursework is typically devoted to anatomy and physiology, which provide the physical basis for therapeutic applications. This week usually concludes with a practice to bring awareness to various sensations and bodily functions. This module is followed by another week of application-based learning about breathing and sensations.

The third module focuses on counseling skills and patient care. Students learn how to create a yoga therapy practice that is individualized for each client. Students learn to incorporate meditation and breathing into daily activities, as well as how to improve their awareness of their physical health. Counseling skills include learning how to deal with anxiety and depression as well as feelings of shame and guilt.

The last portion of this particular module focuses on the ethical aspects of therapeutic applications, including endorses of natural health principles, the importance of building connections within a group, stress management, well-being/well-being workshops, cultural diversity, personal well-being, nutritional counseling, substance abuse prevention, recovery planning, and risk management. The fourth module focuses on instruction in yoga therapy techniques that address the five elements. One is the desire to connect with one’s own mind, body, heart, and spirit, while two are practicing asana to maintain good health and well-being. This module may require up to 75 hours of instruction.

Instructors design the module based on specific cases. The number of hours may vary from one instructor to the next. Each state has its own requirements regarding licensure and certification. For people who are very stressed, the yoga tune is great because it relaxes the mind. Most training centres will be able to offer you classes outside of their normal curriculum.
