Yoga Therapy Training – What Foundations Are Required For You To Sit For A Certification Exam?

Kim M. Kim M.

After you have received your clinical yoga therapy training class you will be required to take a one-week residency.

For the aspiring yoga therapist, it’s a great place to start their career. Are you thinking about getting Yoga Therapy Training? If you are then you are on the way to making a big change in your life. It s not going to happen overnight and it is not something that you can do it without any experience. If you are thinking that this might be a scam then you are totally wrong because if you go into it with the right attitude you will be blown away by what you will get out of it. It s a long journey, not to mention a tough road to get to become a certified Yoga Therapist.

Yoga Therapy Training – What Foundations Are Required For You To Sit For A Certification Exam?

It will likely take at least several years. Your first 200-hour yoga therapy training will likely take a good portion of that year. Your clinical yoga therapy program will likely take around a total of six months. After you have received your clinical yoga therapy training class you will be required to take a one-week residency.

During your residency you will work one on one with a small group of other trainees. This will allow you to network with other therapists while you are learning what you are learning. When you are in your small group mentorship you will also be able to help your fellow trainees when they need a hand. Practicing Yoga Therapy with others is great because it helps you to relieve chronic pain in a very natural way. Chronic pain is completely psychological. It is something that we associate with other people; however, it is not something that we can easily control.

The mind is powerful and it can cause us to resist doing certain things even though we know it is illusory. By practicing yoga therapy regularly with mindfulness and compassion for your fellow trainees you will be able to overcome and control chronic pain. You will need to complete a clinical yoga therapy program in order to complete the requirements to sit for an integrative medicine certification exam. These requirements are based on the foundation of traditional medicine and the precepts of traditional Buddhism.

The Foundations module is a basic introductory course in which you will be trained in basic yoga therapy methods. Upon completion of this foundation module your course will consist of core courses in anatomy, pathology and physiology, yoga, energy healing and integrative medicine principles. In order to help clients realize and reach their maximum potential, you will need to demonstrate in detail your application of mindfulness and compassion while working with your trainees. The mindful awareness you will display while practicing yoga will have a profound effect on the way you approach clients.

You will be able to identify potential problems such as blockages in the energy channels and you will be able to provide insight as to why these blockages may be occurring. Once you have identified these problems you will then be able to offer methods of clearing the energy channels through various poses and exercises. These classes are designed for those who wish to become full-fledged yoga therapists, but who are not yet certified in yoga therapy. Students must achieve at least diploma level before they are considered certified. For the aspiring yoga therapist, it’s a great place to start their career.
